Ultrasonic Testing

Ultrasonic Testing (UT) is a conventional NDT technique that can be used to obtain thickness measurements of materials and detect defects in welds, castings and wrought products. Ultrasonic Testing works by transmitting ultrasonic pulse waves into a material in order to verify if any flaws are present. Once emitted, these waves reflect either off the far wall or of any discontinuity (cracks, slags, lack of fusion, porosities, and lamination) or defects that happen to be in its path. The scanning can be done by both the contact and immersion method either manually or automated.

Where to use:

  • Lamination Test on Rolled Plate
  • Shearwave Angle Beam Technique on Weld
  • Forgings
  • Shear and Longitudinal Wave on Piping & Fittings

Type of Jobs:

  • Pressure Vessels LS & CS Joints
